Another year older- and a cake story

Peter recently had his 26th birthday.  Yippee!
Sooo Happy!

One of the many pluses to having as much family as we do means you get triple the celebrations!

We Celebrated with the Alger's friday night.

We Went out to Macaroni Grill with the Knowles family

And then Celebrated all March Birthdays by having a yummy shrimp, chicken and veggie kabobs.

Peter and Todd.  March B-day's
Pete got a gift cert to Red Lobter!

To wrap it all up we had dinner over at the Padilla's with my dad's CRAZY good burgers.

I made Peter's favorite cake, German Chocolate. Here is this years model:

I was sure that I posted about last years party and cake, but I can't find it.  Oh Boy! did you miss out.  Here is last years model:

lean much?

I'm really trying hard to be somewhat domestic.  Last year's cake was a little bit of a joke:

First time I have ever made 3 layer cake
First time I have made a cake from scratch
First time I have made frosting from scratch

I found a from scratch recipe online and I was bound to conquor it.  Peter acutally had to help me finish it.  We were short on time and there were some pretty complicated things I was supposed to do.  So It tasted delicious, didn't look so hot- but it was a fun experience I may never try again.

This year I just did a box cake mix and canned frosting.  Also took it down 1 layer- and didn't try to frost the sides.

We'll see what happens next year!

Thanks to all the family for the fun birthday and delicious food- and for Peter for being born...   Love you baby!

  2. Happy Birthday Petey!

You know, box cakes really are fine. You can make them extra delicious by adding like a 1/2 cup of sour cream, and a packet of pudding (not mixed, just dry) then its kind of like scratch. :)
